Why did you dislike freecoasters at first?
I always did a lot of fakie tricks without a freecoaster and maybe I was afraid to lose some of my tricks or something. But I also didn't like the technical problems
like fast engagement and the bad reliablity. But the possibility to perform "real" fakie manuals was the reason I switched. A freecoaster also takes the last chance for cheating while doing tailtaps and manuals. But maybe I just needed something new.

How important to you is your creative output besides riding, like shooting
photos and producing videos?
Riding is onyl one outlet for my creativity. Especially during injuries I got more and more interested in photography and video. Due to the lack of video makers in Austria it happend that I concentrated more on moving images, but photography also helped a lot. I´m not really into BMX photography anymore, because I lost my motivation a bit to take all the photo stuff with me everytime I go riding. But my Yashicamat will always have its fixed place in my luggage when I'm travelling.

Jumpbox or jump to flat?
I remember the times when I would have answered "jumpbox", but now I have to say "jump IN the flat".

Do you get jealous when you see 15-year old kids doing Truckdrivers down stairs?
Haha, I dont know if jealous is the right word. I have nothing to put towards it. It's like a new generation of riders. Compared to when I got into riding, the BMX media is nearly everywhere now. Kids just take the trick progression to a new level, riding nonstop, learning tricks every day . They just go for it, but my body won't go with them anymore.

Do you wish to live in a place with a bigger scene sometimes or is Vienna just fine?
I like Cologne and Sofia a lot, but I guess if my girlfriend and I ever move to another country it will be more in the south, because sometimes the winter time can make you very depressed here.

You are working as a freelance programmer. Do you feel this job gives you more time to ride compared to a normal 9-to-5 job?
That was one of the main reasons I quit my 30-hour job as a programmer a few months ago. Working as a freelancer gives me more time to ride when the weather is fine and the work is done in the morning and afternoon/night or when it's raining.

Is there anything in modern BMX media production you are missing, be it video or photo?
Compared to regular video projects BMX and Skateboard flicks are - with some exceptions - still in it's infancy. I know working on a BMX video means you are always on budget, but I´m missing the smart ideas, good concepts and the use of self-built equipment, like dollys and steadycams, to increase production value. That has been state-of-the-art in guerilla filmmaking for many years, but if somebody now uses for example a steadycam everybody is like whooo. Another point is that in most videos you only see the same aspects of riding. I want to see something different.

Top 3 Flatland tricks you'd like to learn:
None of the tricks like nosemanuals and Hang 5's are really flatland. They
are just basic BMX tricks.

Are you social?
Social? Lately I really hate to go out to party, trying to avoid all those people on the tram (maybe because I´m always ratty after riding cause I wear pads). To some it may seem like I´m a bit misanthropic and maybe even kind of paranoid. But I think I also have a social vein, otherwise I wouldn' try to run a webpage and organize local jams.
